Jude Bellingham’s asking price revealed to four transfer suitors
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham is one of the most wanted players in world football at present, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Liverpool all seeking a transfer for the talented England international.
Bellingham, who is nominated for the prestigious Golden Boy award, was not allowed to leave Dortmund in the summer, but it could be that he departs in 2023.
BVB saw Erling Haaland depart for Manchester City for just €60 million, and with the Norway international scoring at the rate of more than a goal-per-game with the Etihad club, that reflects positively on the Bundesliga club.
Having sold themselves short on Haaland via a minimum fee release clause, though, they are determined not to do that same for Bellingham.
According to the Athletic, Dortmund are holding out for a fee of €150m for the Bellingham, which would make him the third most expensive player in this history of the game behind only PSG duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Bellingham bidding war ideal for Dortmund
Certainly, their prospects of receiving an astronomical fee for the player look to be positive given the type of clubs that are involved in the race to sign him.
Man Utd are known to have impressive spending power, as they showed this summer when they splash out close to €100m to sign Antony from Ajax, while Chelsea are coming off the back of a world-record summer spending spree.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are in the process of renewing their midfield and spent €100m on Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni this summer, showing their willingness to spend big when the talent is available.
Of this group of clubs, only Liverpool are not known for their lavish spending, though there is a sense that if the Reds felt they were getting value for money, they would be prepared to pay if for a player who could give them a decade or more of service.
FootballTransfers values Bellingham at €74m, down from a peak of €80m in February earlier this year.
