Paul Pogba is facing an uncertain future at Juventus less than a year after re-joining the club following an injury-hit campaign and the Italian side are looking at a number of ways to resolve the situation.

Pogba returned to Juve last summer on a four-year deal after leaving Manchester United but the Frenchman has only played 35 minutes of football this season, having only made his first appearance of the campaign last month.

The 30-year-old has since picked up another injury which is set to keep him out of action for at least two weeks after being dropped for Juve’s recent Europa League game against Freiburg for disciplinary reasons.

INJURY NUMBER FIVE: Pogba ruled out once again

The frustration surrounding Pogba has developed into a real issue for Juve and the club are considering three options to come to a resolution, according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

The first choice would be for Pogba to renegotiate his salary and take a pay cut as an ‘act of responsibility’ for his disappointing season and poor handling of his fitness.

Another alternative would be to simply keep the situation as it is and hope things improve, while the most drastic option would be to come to an agreement to mutually terminate Pogba’s contract.

Pogba adding to Juventus problems

According to reporter Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have played down talks of terminating Pogba’s deal but the club are concerned at the ramifications of his contract, given their 15-point deduction amid financial irregularities.

Pogba initially picked up a knee injury in pre-season and he opted against getting immediate surgery to avoid being ruled out for France’s 2022 World Cup campaign.

However, his hesitation only prolonged the inevitable and he eventually went under the knife, much to the frustration of Juve, who had wanted him to have surgery much earlier.

The club’s annoyance was further compounded when Pogba aggravated his injury in February while skiing and he was dropped just one game into his comeback after turning up late for a team meeting.
