‘We do not need to sell’: Man Utd warned off transfer for Premier League sensation

Manchester United may have their work cut out to sign Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma this summer, after the Seagulls’ CEO stressed the club ‘don’t need to sell players to survive’.

Having spent last season on loan at Belgian outfit Union Saint-Gilloise, Mitoma made his Brighton debut this season and has become a mainstay of the Seagulls team.

With seven goals in his last 14 games, the 25-year-old Japanese international is bang in form – prompting Man Utd to reportedly monitor him ahead of a potential switch to Old Trafford.

But, while the big six might be able to make some smaller clubs roll over in the transfer market, Brighton will be no soft touch.

The Seagulls held firm amid January interest from Arsenal in star midfielder Moises Caicedo, and CEO Paul Barber says they are prepared to do likewise over Mitoma.
