Marcus Rashford makes final decision amidst PSG links
Marcus Rashford has decided his preference would be to stay at Manchester United, according to reports. The England international is being eyed by Paris Saint-Germain, having netted 28 goals across all competitions for the Red Devils this season. But while the club are keen to tie him down to a new contract, nothing has been signed just yet.
Rashford was the hero for United against Brentford on Wednesday night, with the 25-year-old scoring the only goal of the game to give his side all three points.
And the Daily Mail say the England international is keen to stay at Old Trafford, despite PSG eyeing a deal.
Rashford’s current contract, which is worth in the region of £250,000-a-week, is due to expire come the end of the 2023/2024 campaign.
And United are continuing to work on a renewal as they look to tie their talisman down for many years to come.
Previously it’s been reported United may introduce a ‘Cristiano Ronaldo rule’ that would cap salaries at £200,000-a-week.
But it’s hard to imagine Rashford staying, despite his love of the club, if that happens.
Without the forward, United may have endured a drastically different season under Ten Hag.
Many were unsure what to expect from Rashford at the beginning of the campaign, especially given his woes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last term.
Yet he hasn’t looked back since and has helped United win the Carabao Cup, compete for the top four and remain in contention for FA Cup and Europa League glory.
Against Brentford on Wednesday night, Rashford took his tally to 28 goals for the season.
