Erling Haaland’s chances of joining Real Madrid have taken a blow following the behaviour of his father during Manchester City’s match at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.

Madrid and City drew 1-1 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Kevin de Bruyne equalising after a Vinicius Jr opener.

Haaland’s father Alf-Inge was escorted out of the corporate box at the game by security after clashing with Real Madrid fans during the game.

The Daily Mail reports that Haaland Sr was removed from the hospitality area after “goading a section of Real Madrid fans sat directly in front of him.”

The former defender also cupped his ears to Madrid fans after City equalised and allegedly made an obscene gesture.

Spanish media have also accused Haaland Sr of throwing peanuts at Madrid fans in the second half.

Haaland future transfer to Real Madrid?

The alleged behaviour of Alf-Inge has raised doubts over whether Madrid will decide to drop their interest in the City star.

Haaland completed a €60 million transfer to Man City from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

The striker turned down Real Madrid in order to join the English champions.

But it is widely believed that Haaland only plans on staying at City for two or three seasons before moving onto another league.

Real Madrid are considered the favourites to be his next club. The Spanish media believe that Madrid see Haaland as the successor to Karim Benzema, who is 35.

Haaland has a release clause in his Man City contract that comes into effect in the summer of 2024 that is worth €200 million.

The release clause is only valid for clubs outside of the Premier League.

It is also reported that the release clause will decrease each year after it is activated in 2024.

Haaland was quiet in the 1-1 draw with Madrid but has scored a record-breaking 51 goals so far this season for his club.
