'I would be scared to play with him': Onana criticism continues after Man Utd mistakes
Andre Onana has come under more criticism for his mistake-ridden start to life at Manchester United, with Ian Wright claiming he would be ‘scared’ to play with the goalkeeper in his current form.
Onana joined Untied in the summer for €52 million but has conceded 12 goals in his oening eight Premier League games, making a host of errors in the process.
The Cameroonian has remained defiant in his attitude despite the mistakes, taking responsibility with interviews to the media and insisting he will come out stronger.
GET RID: United told to replace Onana already
However, Wright was speaking on the Sky Sports programme The Overlap alongside United legends Roy Keane and Gary Neville, as well as Jamie Carragher, all of whom were critical of Onana’s start to life at Old Trafford.
He said: 'When you look at the mistakes, hopefully he's got the mentality to get through it. Not even as a Man United fan, he frightens me simply because he makes so many mistakes. Because if you score two then you will still worry you will concede three.
“'It would scare me playing with him at the moment. On the floor he's very good and his passing, but I'm not seeing in the way he plays that makes me think he's getting through that (his poor form).
Carragher: Time will tell if Onana is a bad keeper or just in bad form
The panel were also critical of Onana’s decision to shout at Harry Maguire on the pitch during a pre-season friendly after the United defender made a mistake.
“Is he making mistakes or is he a bad keeper? I think we will work that out in the next four to six weeks in how people actually see him,” Carragher said.
“Is he just having a really bad run? Is he playing in front of a really poor back four and his confidence is gone? He is a good keeper he has played in the Champions League final but I can't get out of my head what he did to Maguire.
WORST: Where does Onana stand alongside Manchester United's summer signings?
“I thought it was awful and can't get it out of my head. He's going through a really bad time. Psychologically it must be really affecting him, he's probably never had this attention before, he's at a new club and how would he feel if someone was running at him, throwing their arms around like a lunatic.
🚨🚨🎙️| Roy Keane on Andre Onana: "He has had a very bad start. Being a goalkeeper at #mufc is a difficult position, you need a big personality after making mistakes. He's already made six or seven big mistakes , it's not a very good start." pic.twitter.com/jz7KmeZHlD

“It was a pre-season game you don't need to go mad. It was only his second game for Man United he didn't concede a goal, Maguire made a mistake on the half-way line and everyone is on his back having a really bad time. He's (Onana) only been here two minutes.”
