Messi at Miami is now a BILLION dollar deal
Lionel Messi's arrival at Inter Miami at 2023 boosted the value of the MLS franchise to never-before seen levels.
Sportico's latest report into the value of each MLS franchise value sees the Floridian side masterminded by David Beckham edge over the $1 Billion mark for the first time.
This represents a whopping 74% increase in the value of the brand since Messi came on board to much acclaim last season. His initial performances, before picking up an injury in October, set the league alight, and Miami were able to win the MLS Cup in the process.

Messi has since been joined by former Barcelona team-mates Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and recent arrival Luis Suarez ahead of the 2024 season, pushing the value of the franchise further higher.
Miami are however still only the third most valuable franchise in the MLS. Los Angeles FC still lead the way, with a projected value of $1.18 Billion, up 28 YOY. In behind them are Atlanta United ($1.05 Billion).
Miami's valuation moves them ahead of LA Galaxy ($1 Billion) for the first time, with New York City FC ($840m) in fifth spot.
Teams are currently in training camps ahead of the new MLS season.
