Frustrated Lingard ‘sacks agents’ following failed Barcelona links
Former Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard has reportedly sacked his agents after growing frustrated with their inability to find him with a new club.
Lingard, who remains a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest last summer, was recently linked with a move to Barcelona but nothing came of it.
After his one-year stint at Forest, the 31-year-old has been without a club, leading to him opting to let go of his representatives, according to Sky Sports.
“Lingard just wants to play football and has subsequently terminated all ties with his former agents,” the source claimed.
It’s believed that Lingard ripped up the contract of a complex long-term agreement with his agents after they failed to source him a new club.
It is stressed in the report that money is not the driving force behind Lingard’s push for a new side. The former Red Devils man has been undergoing private training in Dubai, while he practiced with West Ham and the Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq during the season.
Lingard enjoyed a fruitful spell with the Irons, netting nine goals in 16 outings back in 2021. But his time at Forest was a huge contrast to that. West Ham have ruled out a move for Lingard despite an injury crisis in attack, amid concerns at about the 31-year-old going so long without playing.
What did Paul Scholes say to Jesse Lingard?
Lingard has been active on social media, posting snaps of him at the gym. One caught the attention of Paul Scholes, who brutally sniped at Lingard in the comments section.
The former midfielder wrote: “Are you just gonna f*** about in the gym or are you gonna actually play football?'”
Scholes then reacted to a further post of Lingard training on a pitch, replying: “There we go Jess….a ball.”
Reports in Spain have claimed Lingard has offered himself to Barcelona. Everton have also been linked but FootballTransfers learned that the club are not keen on acquiring his services.
