Meanwhile, Harry Maguire is finally expected to leave at the end of the season, as he is clearly not up to the standard that manager Erik ten Hag desires.
Kilman is now among the contenders to replace him at Old Trafford, according to talkSPORT.
The 26-year-old, who was one of former manager Ralf Rangnick's recommendations, has made over 100 Premier League appearances.
And, having represented England in futsal as a youngster, he boasts the ball-playing ability that Ten Hag is looking for.
He is undoubtedly a quality player, but whether he is ready to make the step up to Man Utd remains unknown.
Man Utd's Kilman alternatives
Kilman is one of several central defenders to be linked with a move to United in the upcoming transfer window.
Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite appears to be at the top of the pecking order, having impressed in Sean Dyche's struggling side this season.

Meanwhile, Benfica wonderkid Antonio Silva and Atalanta prospect Giorgio Scalvini are also thought to be in contention.
