The five Serie A stars who could transfer this summer
Serie A is far from being the financially most powerful league in the world, as it was in the 1980s and 1990s.
As a result, it is far more difficult today for clubs to hold on to their best players, and there is more of a need to balance the books and sacrifice stars.
This will be no different in the summer of 2024.

Below, FootballTransfers looks at 10 stars who could leave their Serie A clubs in the summer transfer window.
Denzel Dumfries (Inter)
Denzel Dumries’ contract expires in June 2025. The Nerazzurri have been in talks over extending his contract until 2027.
However, Dumfries is demanding a salary in unison with the best-paid players at the club.
Inter neither have the resources nor do they believe that Dumfries is worth being one of the highest earners at San Siro. Unless Dumfries lowers his demands, then a contract renewal is not possible and they will sell this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2025.
Man Utd are one of the clubs interested in signing Dumfries.
Rafa Leao (Milan)
Rafa Leao has attracted the interest of a host of top European clubs such as Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, PSG and Real Madrid over the last year or so.
Leao was Milan’s key player as they won their first Serie A title in 11 years in 2021-22. He was named Serie A Player of the Year, scoring 14 goals and grabbing 12 assists in all competitions.
In the following two seasons, his form has been inconsistent, meaning that Milan would potentially consider selling for a massive three-figure transfer fee.
Milan will likely sell one of their star trio of Leao, Mike Maignan or Theo Hernandez this summer - will it be Leao?
Bremer (Juventus)
Juventus are likely to have to make a big sacrifice on the summer transfer market in order to raise cash to fund their own spending.
Brazil defender Bremer, who is rated as one of the best centre-backs in Serie A, could be the star who is sacrificed.
Juventus recently put a €60 million clause in his contract. Although this can’t be activated until 2025, it demonstrated that both Bremer and the Bianconeri are open to offers.
Man Utd are acknowledged admirers of Bremer.
Federico Chiesa (Juventus)
There are a number of Juventus players whose contracts expire in 2025 and thus have uncertain futures at the club.
Federico Chiesa is one of these players, together with Weston Mckennie, Moise Kean, Wojciech Szczesny, Mattia Perin, Samuel Iling-Junior and more.
If Chiesa does not sign a new contract he will be sold this summer, so that Juventus don’t lose him on a free transfer in a year’s time.
There is interest in Chiesa from the Premier League, including from Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle,
Victor Osimhen (Napoli)
FootballTransfers understands that Victor Osimhen has decided to leave Napoli at the end of the campaign.
The Nigerian joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 and has developed into one of the best strikers in the world at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Osimhen was Serie A Top Scorer with 26 goals and was named Serie A Footballer of the Year as Napoli won its first Scudetto for 33 years last season.
This season he has lost motivation having decided to leave, with PSG, Chelsea and Arsenal all interested.
But Osimhen will not come cheap, with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis likely to demand his full release clause of around €120-130 million in order to sell.
