According to The Evening Standard, Chelsea want to develop a coaching production line that would see the likes of Silva take charge at Stamford Bridge.
Silva left the Blues this summer after four fantastic seasons at the West London club.
He has returned to his native Brazil to play for Fluminense for the remainder of his playing career.
The 39-year-old has previously expressed his desire to return to Chelsea and has ambitions of becoming a head coach after he retires.

"That doesn’t mean that this is a definitive end. I hope to leave the door open so that in the near future I can return, albeit in another role here.
"But…it’s an indescribable love. I can only say thank you."
He added: "It is already hard saying goodbye in the most normal of circumstances but when there is a mutual love, it’s even harder. But once a Blue, always a Blue."
