Chelsea face an important summer in the transfer market as they look to improve their squad further and appoint a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine joined the Blues last summer, however he lasted just 11 months in charge and left by mutual consent on 21 May after a post-season review meeting.

The Blues subsequently announced on 3 June that Enzo Maresca will be their new manager.

Although Todd Boehly has overseen a spend of more than €1 billion on new players since arriving at the club in 2022, there has been no success to show for it, with the Stamford Bridge outfit finishing 12th in his first campaign as owner and sixth in 2023-24.

However, Chelsea continue to target a raft of promising young players, despite the evident need for more experience in the dressing room.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen initially headlined Chelsea’s summer transfer targets, but the Blues are also looking at alternatives, and many other deals could well be completed in a bid to get their squad into shape.

In addition, they are also looking to sign a new centre-back following the confirmation that Thiago Silva will be leaving, while a deal is in place to sign Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao for an initial €40 million.

Our Chelsea transfer live blog brings you all the latest news surrounding the Blues, including exclusives from our own reporters as well as checking out what the other big names are saying (including the likes of Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein).

The Blues are expected to see several players come and go, and the Stamford Bridge rumour mill is already in full swing.

Bologna provide transfer update on Calafiori

Bologna still retain hope of keeping Riccardo Calafiori.

The Italy defender has been strongly linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus this summer, but a departure isn't inevitable.

"We took him 12 months ago so we'll see what happens in the market but in our heads there is the will to keep him," Bologna technical director Giovanni Sartori said.

"We will try to keep him but if important offers arrive we will have to take them into consideration. I don't think he will go to Juventus, he will probably go to a different market."

Why Marc Guiu joined Chelsea

Marc Guiu has explained why he left Barcelona for Chelsea, telling the club's official website:

"My main reason for wanting to sign for Chelsea was the football and sporting project the club is offering me here, and the trust everyone who works at the club is putting in me.

"The club has a very interesting plan with a lot of young and exciting players and I think we can do great things. I think it’s a very talented squad, full of top players who are very young, have a lot of quality and have a lot to offer."

Broja flattered by Milan interest

Armando Broja has sent the feelers out to Milan by heaping praise on club advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"I would tell him, first of all that I am a big fan of his – I have always liked him as a player," the player told RTV Klan. "Milan is a great club, second only to Real Madrid in history.

"I would tell him that I have to speak to my agent and family, then I will let him know. It’s true, I have offers from these three championships (Serie A, Bundesliga, Premier League). Staying at Chelsea? It is an option; I still have a contract with them that expires in many years..."

Milan want Lukaku

Milan are reportedly interested in signing Romelu Lukaku on a permanent deal from Chelsea.

The Belgian striker has spent the last few years away from Stamford Bridge on loan at Inter and then Roma, and is expected to leave on a permanent basis this summer.

Napoli has been mentioned as a potential destination, but Milan also want Lukaku as a replacement for MLS-bound Olivier Giroud. (Gianluca Di Marzio

West Ham join race for Jhon Duran

West Ham are eager to sign previous Chelsea target Jhon Duran.

A few weeks ago it seemed likely the Blues would purchase Duran from Aston Villa for £40 million, but they developed concerns and eventually pulled out of the deal. That has opened the door for West Ham, who could sign Duran for a similar fee. (The West Ham Way)

Chelsea target McAtee to be given chance at City

Chelsea remain interested in signing James McAtee but the youngster will be given a chance to impress Pep Guardiola in pre-season this summer.

McAtee has spent the last two seasons on loan at Sheffield Utd and has impressed enough that the Blues are willing to spend around £20 million to take him off Man City, having enjoyed huge success with the transfer of Cole Palmer a year ago.

However, with the likes of Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden set to join pre-season late due to their participation in the Euros, McAtee will be given game time in City friendlies to see how he has progressed. (MEN)

Isak deal increasingly unlikely

It is looking increasingly unlikely that Chelsea or Arsenal will sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle.

The Magpies were previously under pressure to sell players this summer before 30 June to comply with profit and sustainability regulations, but they have recently sold Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest and Yankuba Minteh to Brighton for around £65 million. The club are also on the cusp of offloading Miguel Almiron to the Saudi Pro League.

Newcastle are now under no pressure to sell Isak, though Chelsea and Arsenal both baulked at the £115m asking price for the Swedish striker. (Football London)

Man City pip Arsenal to former Chelsea wonderkid

Manchester City have usurped Arsenal to the signing of exciting youngster Ryan McAidoo, formerly of Chelsea.

McAidoo only made four appearances for Chelsea in the U18 Premier League but opted to not sign at extended deal at Stamford Bridge, opening the door for other clubs to swoop.

Arsenal were the first team to show interest, but it appears Man City have hijacked the deal. (Mirror)

Williams prefers Barca to Chelsea

It seems Chelsea's pursuit of Nico Williams will be a fruitless one as the player wants to move to Barcelona.

The Spaniard has been one of the standout players at Euro 2024 and is coming off an excellent campaign domestically with Athletic Bilbao. His £46.5m release clause is attracting interest from plenty of big clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea, but it appears he has his heart sent on a switch to Camp Nou. (Sport)
