Spain have been the best team at Euro 2024 so far and they booked their place in the final on Tuesday by beating France 2-1 in the semis in Munich.

The Spaniards have boasted a host of impressive performers in Germany this summer, and Arsenal manager Arteta is reported by The Athletic to be a massive fan of two in particular.

The Athletic reports that Arteta has made it clear to club bosses that if they try and sign a wide forward this summer that they should go all-in for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.

Arsenal are said to be battling Barcelona and Chelsea for the 21-year-old, who has lit up Euro 2024.

There is a €58 million release clause in Williams’ contract at Athletic.

Blessed with lightning pace and dribbling skills, he had electric performances in the wins over Croatia, Italy and Georgia.

Against the now-disposed reigning champions, Williams tore apart the Italy right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo and set up the winner - an own goal by Riccardo Calafiori.

He also scored a fantastic goal in the win over Georgia in the last-16.

The report adds that Arteta has also informed Arsenal chiefs of his admiration for midfielder Merino.

The 28-year-old has not been a starter at Euro 2024 but has played a crucial role off the bench, scoring a brilliant headed winner in the 119th minute against Germany in the quarter final.

He is expected to be available for transfer this summer - like Williams - but also will not come cheap.

Arsenal are expected to complete the transfer of Italy’s best outfield player at the Euros, Riccardo Calafiori, this week.

The Gunners have agreed a deal with Bologna for a fee of around €50 million, with personal terms also accepted by the centre back.
