Manchester United will not exercise €20 million clause for Sofyan Amrabat but are open to talks over a possible permanent deal for a fee significantly below that, FootballTransfers can confirm.

We are told that club executives Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth do not wish to sign off on a deal for the midfielder for that amount, especially given what was paid as the initial loan fee.

Amrabat is due back at Fiorentina this week but the door has been left open for a transfer to take place on different terms.

EXCLUSIVE:Man Utd face Casemiro obstacle in Ugarte pursuit

The 27-year-old joined Man Utd on an initial loan on last summer's deadline day, with the Premier League giants paying an initial €10m fee. The Morrocan did not justify the amount, but there were promising signs in his FA Cup final display, working in tandem alongside Kobbie Mainoo.

Man Utd completed the signing of France Under-21 defender Leny Yoro from Lille in a deal that could reach €62m last week but the side are still in the hunt for another central defender.

Everton sources say that they are holding firm in their valuation of Jarrad Branthwaite and the collapse of the Friedkin Group takeover. It remains to be seen if Man Utd make a third bid but talks have been ongoing this year with the player, who is open to an Old Trafford switch.

The Toffees defender is deemed higher on the list than Matthijs de Ligt at Bayern Munich, but Man Utd will not go below their valuation of the Dutchman.

United also have a clear price in their minds for De Ligt and will not pursue a deal for the 24-year-old Netherlands defender if Bayern’s demands fall outside that.

Manuel Ugarte deal not close

Meanwhile, we understand Aaron Wan-Bissaka is attracting interest from West Ham as well as clubs in Italy and Turkey. The former Crystal Palace player is in the final year of his contract with Man Utd, who are looking for a sale.

Man Utd remain in talks with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, but a deal is not close. The French club want €70m, as previously reported - an amount that Man Utd are not willing to pay.

However, PSG are open to allow Ugarte to leave on a loan with an obligation to buy. Joao Neves has been heavily linked with a move to the Parc des Princes from Benfica and it's thought a lot rests on that.
