Samu Omorodion latest
Julian Alvarez has also accepted a move to Atletico Madrid and the Argentine’s transfer to the Wanda Metropolitano will unlock Samu Omorodion to Chelsea.
The Spain U21 international will join the Blues for a reported fee of €40m after spending last season on loan at Alaves.
He is expected to sign a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge and the move is set to be announced shortly.
Marc Guehi windfall
Chelsea stand to earn €17.5m from Marc Guehi’s move from Crystal Palace to Newcastle United.
The Magpies are in advanced talks to sign the England international for €70m, as per The Telegraph, and Chelsea are in line to earn a small fortune thanks to a 25% sell-on clause.
Alternatively, the Blues could look to purchase Guehi themselves. Enzo Maresca’s side included a matching rights clause when they sold Guehi to Palace, meaning they could sign the England defender for €70m if they wish.
Aston Villa want Romelu Lukaku
Aston Villa are looking to hijack Napoli’s pursuit of Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku.
That is according to CalcioNapoli24, who report that Antonio Conte is urging the Serie A giants to finalise a move for the Belgian.
Napoli are currently waiting to sell Victor Osimhen before signing Lukaku.
Enzo Maresca takes aim at the Premier League
Enzo Maresca has blamed the Premier League for Chelsea’s recent academy exit.
Speaking in the USA, Maresca said: “But this is not Chelsea’s problem. These are the rules. All the clubs at this moment are compelled to sell players from the academy because of the rules. It’s all of the Premier League clubs’ problems.
“I also think the intention of the club is not to sell players from the academy, but it is the rules at the end that you have to do it. It’s not only us; it’s all the Premier League clubs. It’s a shame because in Italy we have Francesco Totti at Roma, 20 years with the same club.
“A one-club man - we love that in football; the fans want to see that. But with the rules now, it is different from the past, but it is not only Chelsea spending money on players.
“It’s all the big clubs trying to try and buy players. Some of the clubs spend more, some spend less. My personal opinion is it’s a shame because we like to see a one-club man, but the rules are different.”
Asked if the Premier League should amend their spending rules, Maresca replied: “If they want to protect academy players, then probably yes.”
