Liverpool in RACE to sign Argentine wonderkid before transfer deadline
Liverpool are racing against the clock to sign Argentine midfielder Santiago Hezze before the transfer deadline passes.
Having failed in their bid to lure Martin Zubimendi to Merseyside, Liverpool appeared to leave the defensive midfield position alone.
The Reds even allowed Stefan Bajcetic to leave for RB Salzburg on loan as he returns from an injury which kept him out most all of last season.

But as Stephen Kountourou reports on X: Liverpool have now identified Olympiakos' 22 year-old midfielder as a target to reinforce the defensive midfield position.
Kountourou also adds that things will be difficult to do this late in the window, as any signing would leave Olympiakos precious little time to scout for a replacement.
However Kountourou also quote tweeted the eyes emoji to a Liverpool fan account pointing out that the private jet which took Federico Chiesa from Turin to Liverpool so he could complete his move, then took Stefan Bajcetic to Salzburg for his move, is scheduled to fly to Athens on August 30, which is transfer deadline day.
Can Liverpool get a deal done at the last minute and bring in what looks like the perfect complimentary piece to Alex MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai?
Hezze: a ball-winner of impeccable heritage
Hezze is a tough-tackling Argentine midfielder. An adept ball-carrier, he has a nice eye for a pass as well, but his biggest strength is very clearly his love of winning the ball back. Hezze will put his body on the line in a way reminiscent of his compatriot, former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano.
Hezze's tough-tackling approach would serve him well in the Premier League. Indeed he helped Olympiakos to knock defending champions West Ham out of the Europa Conference League last season (en route to winning it all).
