Chelsea are looking to move on the 29-year-old from Stamford Bridge after it was made clear the winger wasn't in the club's plans.

Sterling joined Chelsea for €56.4 million in 2022, but he has been excluded by Enzo Maresca and the Blues have been hoping to find a solution before the end of Deadline Day.

Among the clubs linked to Sterling include Arsenal, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, as well as the Red Devils.

There was an indication that Sterling could head to Man Utd, with out-of-favour Jadon Sancho heading in the opposite direction.

But reporter Ben Jacobs has put paid to that idea. "Something extraordinary would need to happen to see Raheem Sterling at United now," said the reporter on X.

Indeed, a swap deal involving Sterling and Man Utd outcast Sancho has also been mooted as an option.

Arsenal have signed Riccardo Calafiori, David Raya and Mikel Merino so far this summer, but they are yet to add a new forward.

Athletic Club star Nico Williams was their priority target, however he is settled in Spain and a move for Sterling is now being considered as a result.

What has Enzo Maresca said about Raheem Sterling?

Ahead of Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Servette on Thursday night, Maresca told the media: “I prefer to be honest with players. The ones who are not involved are not going to be involved and they won't get any minutes if they stay.

“I don't know what happens when the window closes if they are still here. The ones who will get minutes are the ones I think can help us.”

He continued: “Raheem is a fantastic guy who has trained very well. Every manager has a different idea and he is the kind of winger that is not one that I like. History and numbers speak for Raheem. He knows exactly what he needs to do.

“The rest are training apart, they are not going to get minutes. I have been clear and honest with them.”
