After Casemiro & Varane, Man Utd line up another OLD La Liga star
Manchester United are considering making an offer to sign another La Liga veteran.
That is according to the Athletic, who report that United have discussed sending an offer to veteran free agent Marcos Alonso.
The 33-year-old is available on a free transfer after his contract at Barcelona expired last month.

Man Utd are in the market for a new left back, with Luke Shaw suffering yet another injury which will see him miss the start of the Premier League season.
The Athletic reports that United transfer chiefs have discussed Alonso and are weighing up sending him an official offer.
Alonso is reported to be keen on the move and would likely accept an offer.

The veteran is keen to return to the Premier League having previously played for Chelsea and Bolton, winning the Premier League title with the Blues.
The decision to go for Alonso will not be popular with some United fans, who have seen the club burned already when signing experienced yet aging La Liga players.
United signed ageing La Liga legends Raphael Varane and Casemiro from Real Madrid in recent years, but both players failed to match their performances in Spain in the Premier League.
Varane was often injured after joining in 2021 but even when he played his levels were often not high. He left on a free transfer this summer to join Monza.
Casemiro also could depart United this summer - just two years after arriving in a €70 million deal - if they are able to find a buyer for him
The Brazilian had a decent first season but showed his age last term, whilst also suffering from injuries.
With Alonso turning 34 in December, there are concerns that he could also be past his best now.
Marcos Alonso career
Alonso came through the Real Madrid youth academy but made just one appearance for the senior team before moving to Bolton in 2010.
After three years in England, he transferred to Fiorentina where he really made his name.
That led to a big transfer to Chelsea where he spent six successful years, making over 200 appearances and winning the Premier League, Champions League and Europa League.
He enjoyed a particularly brilliant season under Antonio Conte at left wing back when Chelsea won the 2017 Premier League.
Alonso joined Barcelona on a free transfer in 2022 and spent two years at Camp Nou before leaving the club.
