Man Utd set to target ANOTHER Dutch transfer
Erik ten Hag is considering a move for another player from the Netherlands, with Manchester United reportedly challenging Bayern Munich to sign a breakout wonderkid of a Dutch legend.
Ten Hag has made a habit of signing players from his native country, with former players such as Antony and Lisandro Martinez or Dutch natives from abroad such as Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt.
And his next target could be Ruben van Bommel, the son of World Cup runner up Mark who has become a regular at left wing for Eredivisie outfit AZ Alkmaar.

The 20-year-old grabbed six goals in 29 games last season but has already scored twice and provided two assists in four starts this year, while also grabbing a brace in the Europa League this week.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, United will face significant competition with Bayern Munich for Van Bommel’s signature, with his physical presence and technical profile believed to be a good ‘fit’ for the club.
However, Van Bommel could also choose to follow in the footsteps of his father, who spent five years at Bayern, winning the Bundesliga twice.
Man Utd could have edge in Van Bommel chase
Van Bommel only joined AZ in 2023 from second division side MVV after initially coming through PSV’s academy, and his performances in the past year have not gone unnoticed.
The 6 foot 3 inches winger is has become a regular for the Dutch under-21 side, scoring three times in eight games, and there is a belief he has the potential to soon receive a cap for the senior side too.
A move to United could prove interesting given the club’s new-found approach to signing young talent, having splashed out on players such as Leny Yoro in recent times.
United would also likely represent an easier path to first team football considering the club’s struggles in the wide areas, while Bayern have been free-scoring so far this season.
