Considered the greatest Roma player of all time, Totti retired from football at the age of 40 in 2017 after a glittering career spanning 25 years.

But despite turning 48 last month, Totti says he has received offers from Serie A clubs to return to playing.

And the ex-number 10 will not rule out a sensational return.

What did Totti say?

“Never say never in life. Some players returned to playing after some years,” Totti said.

“I must train well to play in Serie A. Some Serie A clubs called me recently.

“It happened last month, and they made me think about it. I felt a bit of craziness. I asked myself: ‘Why do they still look for me after so many years?’ I’d be ready in two months.”

Totti at Roma

A one-club man, Totti made his debut for Roma as a 16-year-old in 1992 and went on to make a club record 786 appearances for the club.

He scored a club record 307 goals for Roma, and inspired them to the Scudetto in 2001 under coach Fabio Capello.

Totti also won two Coppa Italia trophies and two Italian Supercups during a legendary 25-year playing career at Roma.

With 250 Serie A goals, Totti is the second-highest scorer in the Italian top-flight’s history.

He was named Serie A Footballer of the Year five times and won the European Golden Shoe in 2007 as top scorer in Europe.

Totti also was capped 58 times by Italy, scoring nine goals, and playing a key role in the Azzurri winning the 2006 World Cup and coming runners-up at Euro 2000.

But could he now return to football at the age of 48?
