Ten Hag suffers HUGE injury blow

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo set to miss seven games, according to reports.

The youngster will be out for an extended period as United will have just two senior midfielders available for Saturday’s Premier League game against Brentford.

Mainoo may not feature again for United until December, reports The Times, leaving under-pressure Ten Hag with a selection headache.

The 19-year-old missed the international break with England last week because of the injury he suffered in the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa earlier this month.

Manuel Ugarte also picked up an injury on international duty for Uruguay. He has returned to light training but won't be fit in time for the clash against Thomas Frank's Brentford.

Harry Maguire will also be out for the match. Defender Noussair Mazraoui, meanwhile, returned to training on Thursday following a precautionary medical procedure after suffering heart palpitations. It's not clear yet whether he will be fit for the game against the Bees.

Alejandro Garnacho is out with a knee injury and Amad Diallo is out ill. Elsewhere Luke Shaw and Mason Mount are making "steady progress" but won't be back in time.

Man Utd injuries

Teenage centre-back Leny Yoro is still working himself back for selection after he broke his foot during pre-season.

Tyrell Malacia, who last played against Fulham on the final day of the 2022–23 campaign, is out, though the Dutchman did feature in first-team training this week.

United were without Rasmus Hojlund at the start of the campaign so the club played Bruno Fernandes and summer addition Joshua Zirkzee in attack.

But the Denmark international made a return with a goal in the 3-3 draw against FC Porto earlier this month.

After Denmark's 2-2 draw with Switzerland on Tuesday, caretaker boss Lars Knudsen said of the young striker: "Rasmus must have the opportunity to really play his way back into his highest gear, and he is well on his way," he said after Denmark's 2-2 draw with Switzerland on Tuesday.

"Rasmus is a fantastic player, and he delivers a fine effort. He has a really high level. You have to remember that he has only just come back. This was only his third start this season [vs Switzerland], and he has basically missed an entire pre-season."
