Arsenal have emerged as contenders for Sporting CP's Geovany Quenda and have even touched base with the player's agents, according to reports.

TeamTalk report that the winger "is a confirmed target for Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool" but now the Gunners have entered the conversation.

The 17-year-old provided an assist against Manchester City on Tuesday night as Ruben Amorim's Sporting CP ran out 4-1 winners.

The outlet states that RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen have made approaches to the teenagers' agents, but Premier League giants Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Juventus are all very keen as well.

It's thought the Gunners are unlikely to make Raheem Sterling’s loan from Chelsea a permanent transfer so they are looking at other targets to bolster their right-wing.

Quenda is contracted to Sporting CP until 2027 and has a €100 million release clause inserted into his deal. The club are not willing to talk about a move for him in the January window but all that could change in the summer.

United's incoming coach Amorim is "keen on a reunion with him" though he has gone on record to say that he would not be looking to sign at Sporting CP players during this season at least.

He has, however, spoken at great lengths about Quenda and how talented he is.

“I’ve already said everything I have to say about Quenda,” Amorim said on the winger. “He’s a very talented kid, very physically robust, very focused, with his feet firmly on the ground. That’s very important for a young player.

“That’s what I said at the start of the season. He got his chance and there was no chance to take it away, no doubt, nothing. I think he’s going to be a great player, but let’s give it time.”
