Liverpool owners FSG have consistently been criticised in the UK media over their involvement in the club, but the value of the Premier League outfit continues to rise.

Reds fans have often targeted FSG's ownership of the Boston Red Sox, and whether their main interest is held in the baseball franchise rather than their other main asset.

This discussion reached fever pitch in the last few weeks as the Red Sox were linked with a gigantic move for outfielder Juan Soto, willing to offer a contract in the region of $750m in order to land the current superstar of baseball, who had become a free agent.

Ultimately Boston were usurped by their bitter rivals, the New York Yankees, who picked up Soto in a $765m deal, but the fact that Liverpool's owners considered the deal has been met with consternation among the support.

But as far as Forbes is concerned, Liverpool remain one of sport's most valuable franchises. In their 2024 list the Anfield club are valued at $5.37 Billion, positioning them in 27th in their global ranking.

Forbes' list is dominated by NFL franchises, with that value largely based on the gigantic reach of the sport and the highly lucrative TV deal behind its operation, and their latest extension has moved a number of teams up, and therefore soccer franchises downwards - Liverpool have dropped from 20th to 27th position.

But the value of the club is now HIGHER than the Red Sox, which are valued at $4.5 Billion in comparison, and is multiples more than the $450m spent on acquiring the club back in 2010.

From that sense, Liverpool is FSG's biggest success and a gigantic value creator for the group - something they should perhaps bear in mind when deciding how and where they issue their spending going forward.
