Arsenal are set to see a major departure this month despite their injury concerns after receiving interest in a player deemed not to have a long-term future at the Emirates.

The Gunners have seen numerous injuries impact key players in recent times, with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Ben White among the stars sidelined with long-term issues.

Mikel Arteta has turned to Myles Lewis-Skelly to fill in at left-back after injuries to Riccardo Calafiori and Takehiro Tomiyasu but the teenager also suffered a blow against Aston Villa that kept him out of Arsenal’s win over Dinamo this week.

Lewis-Skelly’s absence saw Oleksandr Zinchenko make just his fourth start of the season against Dinamo but the Ukraine international is ‘expected’ to leave the club before the end of the month, according to The Telegraph.

Dortmund are in the market for a new left-back and are understood to have put Zinchenko at the top of their wanted list after seeing Chelsea’s Renato Veiga agree to join Juventus on loan.

Arsenal are willing to let Zinchenko leave but they may wait until they learn the scale of Lewis-Skelly’s injury in order to avoid being left short-staffed at left-back.

Arsenal keen to cash in on Zinchenko as contract winds down

Zinchenko has found himself on the fringes of Arteta’s side this season, having only featured in 240 Premier League minutes with the likes of Lewis-Skelly, Calafiori and Jakub Kiwior ahead of him in the pecking order.

The 28-year-old initially was a key figure under Arteta after signing from Manchester City in 2022 for €35 million but he has seen his game time drastically decrease since his debut season.

With his contract set to expire at the end of next season, Arsenal would prefer to sell Zinchenko, particularly as it would help with their PSR struggles, although it remains to be seen what interest will materialise before the transfer window closes next week.

Dortmund sacked manager Nuri Sahin this week but the German outfit are still likely to pursue transfer deals such as Zinchenko even with the uncertainty over who their new coach will be.
