Cunha’s future has been in doubt for some time with the Brazilian having still not extended his contract that expires in 2025.

The 25-year-old has also endured some disciplinary problems of late, frustrated by Wolves’ struggles near the bottom of the Premier League.

Indeed, he was slammed by Wolves manager Vitor Pereira after the defeat to Chelsea on Monday due to his poor body language and for walking straight down the tunnel after coming off.

“I had this conversation in the dressing room,” Pereira said. “He can be frustrated because he wants to win, but everybody in the team wants to win.

“I don’t like this body language. I want someone as a captain trying to help the team – running, suffering, fighting together. This is something I can understand. Next time, I will not understand.”

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Cunha and there have been reports in recent days that they could make an offer before the end of the transfer window.

The Gunners need to sign a new attacker due to their problems in front of goal and after the ACL injury suffered by Gabriel Jesus.

Romano has now confirmed that Cunha could potentially sign for Arsenal by the end of the window.

What did Romano say?

“Cunha’s situation from now until the end of January remains one to watch,” Romano said on Tuesday.

“A new deal is not formally signed yet as I reported two days ago.

“There are clubs showing interest with Arsenal still keen and not only.

“Vitor Pereira’s post-match words yesterday were also strong.”

Periera added that Arsenal’s interest in Cunha may have turned his head.

“It’s human that the players start to be a little bit… it’s normal in football,” he said.

Wolves are believed to value Cunha at around €70-80m.

Cunha at Wolves

Cunha joined Wolves in 2023 from Atletico Madrid for €50m after a successful six month loan spell at the club in the second half of the 2022-23 season.

He has since developed into one of the best players in the Premier League, scoring 26 goals in 78 games for the club.

Cunha began his career at Sion in Switzerland, earning a move to Leipzig and then Hertha Berlin, where he really exploded.

His performances at Hertha earned him a €30m move to Atletico Madrid in 2021 but he struggled in La Liga and was offloaded just 18 months later to Wolves.

At Wolves he has impressed many of the Premier League and Europe’s biggest clubs.

He has won 11 caps for Brazil and is waiting for his first goal.
