Why PSG and the San Antonio Spurs have struck a partnership
Ligue 1 giants PSG and NBA franchise the San Antonio Spurs are set to take advantage of the NBA Paris Games to strike a deal that will see the two teams work in partnership going ahead.
Led by Frenchman Victor Wembanyama, who shares a bond with former PSG striker Kylian Mbappe and was born in the City of Lights, the Spurs travel to Paris to play games on 23 and 25 January against the Indiana Pacers at the Accor Arena in Bercy.
The clubs are set to take advantage of this by launching a partnership together that will see the Texan franchise watch PSG’s Champions League clash against Manchester City on 22 January.
“Paris Saint-Germain is thrilled to collaborate with the San Antonio Spurs, a team that shares our dedication to excellence, innovation, and community engagement,” PSG CEO Victoriano Melero said.

’Beginning of a deeper relationship’
A number of events are planned to celebrate the collaboration, which will also see a limited-edition collection of products launched in PSG stores.
Among the most important of these is a program focused on advancing women in sport.
“The experience will be centred on advancing women in sports, leadership development and leveraging sports as a catalyst for social impact,” a statement from PSG reads.
“This effort reflects the shared commitment of both the Spurs and PSG to belonging and social impact. The Spurs Community Leadership Institute is a flagship program of Spurs impact initiatives and one part of their global dedication to fostering leadership and addressing diverse community needs.
“Similarly, PSG’s programs, such as ‘PSG For Communities’, have supported initiatives like ‘Allez les Filles!’ which has positively impacted nearly 550 young girls. Together, these efforts exemplify how both organizations use the power of sports to inspire change and uplift communities around the world.”
PSG describe the planned events as “the beginning of a deeper relationship between the two clubs”.
