Neymar is set to complete a move to Santos in the hours ahead and the former Barcelona star is hoping that he will be able to persuade more players to join him in Brazil.

Following a failed stint at Al-Hilal, where he was troubled by a serious injury that kept him out for more than a year, Neymar will head back to Santos, where he is poised to sign a six-month deal.

The intention of the Brazilian club appears to be to sign some leading players to help persuade the 32-year-old to remain beyond the terms of his additional deal. Certainly, there is plenty of interest in the veteran, with Inter Miami and the Chicago Fire in MLS both following him lately.

Seven players have been earmarked by Neymar, who UOL Esporte claims to have been “inviting” these stars to Santos – where he will help with the recruitment operation.

Who does Neymar want to sign?

Leading the way is Paul Pogba, who remains a free agent following his release from Juventus in November after he tested positive for a Performance Enhancing Drug (PED). Pogba will be able to return to competition from March and is already free to train with clubs.

Neymar is also targeting a handful of players he has worked with in the past, most notably former Brazil team-mates Marcelo, Thiago Silva, Arthur Melo and Ganso.

The Brazilian has also pinpointed a couple of ex-PSG players in the form of Sergio Ramos and Leandro Paredes.

Clearly, Neymar will not be able to recruit his whole shortlist, but this is a clear message from the winger that he is determined to play with proven winners in a successful side.
