‘A younger James Milner’ – Liverpool urged to sign David Alaba
Liverpool have been urged to sign Bayern Munich star David Alaba by former Reds striker Emile Heskey.
The Premier League champions are currently experiencing something of an injury crisis, particularly in defence.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are both ruled out for most of the season with long-term injuries, meaning that manager Jurgen Klopp is almost certain to go into the market to sign a centre back in January.
One player who has been especially linked with a move to Anfield is Bayern’s utility man Alaba.
The Austria international’s contract in Munich expires at the end of the season and he will not be penning a new deal.
This means the 28-year-old will be able to discuss a Bosman transfer from January, while the possibility remains of him leaving Bayern that month for a small fee.

Heskey told Rousing the Kop: “You’ve got a player who plays left back, left side centre back and left wing back and he can step into midfield as well.
“You’ve got a younger version of James Milner, someone who can tick all the boxes but tick them well.
“If you look at what he’s achieved, he’s a winner, so he knows what it takes to win and that’s what you want within your squad.
“Because that rubs off on the younger players as well because what you do and what you’ve achieved, they want to do as well.”
Alaba has won a whopping nine Bundesliga titles and two Champions League crowns in over a decade at Bayern.
