Madrid: Carvajal set to extend deal till 2024
Dani Carvajal is close to agreeing a new contract with Real Madrid that will extend the defender’s time at the club until 2024.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the 28-year-old defender is in talks with the Spanish club’s hierarchy about a deal that will go beyond his current contract, which expires in 2022.
Carvajal has been at the capital club since the age of 10, where he came through Madrid’s youth academy and played in the B team, before moving to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in 2012.
The Spanish giants activated a buy-back clause for the defender the following year and Cavajal has been a mainstay of Madrid’s team ever since.
As such, the experienced right back is on course to make his 300th appearance for the Bernabeu giants later this season and could end up staying at the club until the age of 32.
