Robert Lewandowski has dismissed any notions of Erling Haaland replacing him at Bayern Munich and has instead suggested the Norwegian forward could be his perfect strike partner.

The Borussia Dortmund forward has quickly emerged as one of the most sought after players in world football due to his form in the Bundesliga.

Since making the move to Germany, Haaland has bagged a remarkable 68 goals and 19 assists in 67 games for Dortmund.

As such, a number of Europe’s biggest clubs have been linked with making a move for the striker next summer.

And while Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City remain the frontrunners for Haaland’s signature, Bayern have also been linked with a move for the player in recent months.

As if to intentionally pour gas on the fire, Lewandowski has now suggested that he and Haaland could potentially link up perfectly well if the young striker was to move to Munich next season.

"We are different. He is a great young player with a great future,” said the Poland international in an interview with Marca.

“He loves the counter attacking game, has a very strong left foot, with a lot of power. I'm a different type. Playing together? I'm not the one to say we can't."

Why Haaland probably won’t join Bayern

Reports in Germany have suggested that Haaland could be available for as little as €90 million next summer, when a minimum-fee release clause comes into effect. Which Bayern could reasonably afford.

However, the problems begin to arise for the Bavarian side when talk of Haaland’s wage demands begin to surface.

The Norwegian striker will reportedly demand to be one of Europe’s highest-paid players at his next club, which would likely rule the fiscally responsible German side out of the running when asked to compete with other clubs that are funded by entire nation states.
