Brandt to Arsenal rumours ‘not true’ – but Dortmund boss does not rule out a deal
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc claims there is no truth to reports that suggest talks are being held with Arsenal over Julian Brandt.
Brandt is one of a number of names being linked with Gunners, who are seeking more creativity, in January.
There continue to be widespread reports that the teams are locked in talks over the 24-year-old, with some suggesting a loan deal could be struck.
“A name is constantly being mentioned that currently doesn’t play a role in our thinking at the moment,” he said ahead of a clash against RB Leipzig, referring to Brandt. “It should come to an end. I can only repeat: there is not even the slightest bit of anything on the table.
“We can’t do anything if rumours are constantly being spread that are not true.”
This echoes a stance that he has taken since the beginning of the month.

Door not closed on Brandt to Arsenal
Zorc, however, does not completely rule out the possibility of something being done for Brandt, but he says there is no movement for now.
“Basically, we would of course deal with each situation individually. Even against an economic background that is not rosy due to the pandemic situation,” he explained. “There is currently nothing on the table for us to consider, so we shouldn’t think about it.”
Meanwhile, Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic has indicated that he wants as many players possible available to him in the second half of the season. He fears the team is under a high level or stress, in addition to the risk of a Covid-19 cluster breaking out at the club.
BVB currently lie fourth in the Bundesliga standings, eight points back of leaders Bayern Munich. Their slim title hopes will be virtually ended at the weekend if they lose to second-placed RB Leipzig, who they travel to meet.
