Could West Ham be about to sell Sebastien Haller?
West Ham are reportedly considering cutting Sebastien Haller’s stay with the club short just 18 months after his big-money arrival.
The 26-year-old is believed to be attracting interest from Ajax, who are ready to table a bid worth €25m to secure his services this month.
That would represent a major loss for the Hammers after they paid £45m to bring the forward in from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2019.
But it would perhaps be no huge surprise given the return on investment Haller has offered thus far.
League | Appearances | Goals |
Eredivisie (2015-17) | 82 | 41 |
Bundesliga (2017-19) | 60 | 24 |
Premier League (2019-21) | 44 | 10 |
The striker boasted a record of a goal every other game during his time with Utrecht in the Eredivisie and Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga prior to moving to England.
Yet he has scored just 10 goals in 44 appearances in the Premier League, gaining a reputation for scoring spectacular goals rather being a spectacular goalscorer.
Haller’s poor return has resulted in him often being consigned to the bench, though he has started 10 of West Ham’s last 11 league games due to Michail Antonio’s battle with a hamstring injury.
However, with the Englishman fit again, opportunities are likely to be few and far between in the near future.
And that could well convince David Moyes to cut his losses if Ajax do firm up their offer.
