Jovic retains belief that things will work out at Real Madrid
Luka Jovic says he hopes his time at Real Madrid will still work out despite being shipped out back on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt.
In June of 2019, Jovic signed for Los Blancos in a huge deal worth £53m [€60 million] after impressing with Frankfurt, particularly in the 2018/19 campaign.
In October of the 2018/19 campaign, he became the youngest player to score five goals in a Bundesliga fixture when he put five past Fortuna Dusseldorf in a 7-1 victory for Frankfurt.
He would earn his move to Real Madrid thereafter, but things have simply not worked out for the Serbian, as injuries, a lack of form, and probably a lack of opportunities has seen him become a player on the periphery of the first team at the Santiago Bernabeu.
In his first season with the club in 2019/20, he started just eight games for the club in all competitions, scoring two goals, while in 2020/21 he has started just three games, and hasn’t scored.
Despite his troubles, Jovic’s aim is to return to Real Madrid and become a success.
“As a player, I have evolved without any doubt,” Jovic told the media this week.

“You have to bear in mind that I have not played regularly for a year and a half and that I will need time to get back to my rhythm. I was able to train alongside the best players in the world at Real and I remain optimistic that everything will work out.”
As for why Frankfurt was ultimately the club to join this January, Jovic claims the club is “in his heart” and that he believes it is the best place for him.
“I feel phenomenal and I am more than happy to return to Eintracht, a team that gave me so much. It will be an honor to wear the Eintracht shirt in the coming months,” he said when asked about his return.
“I have returned for the simple reason that, since then, Eintracht has been in my heart. I established a very special bond. I think it is the right step at this point in my career.”
