Man United defender Fosu-Mensah set to sign for Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen are set to announce the signing of Manchester United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah on a permanent deal.
The 23-year-old defender has struggled for game time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, with just three appearances for the Old Trafford club in all competitions.
Due to his contract expiring at the end of the season, Fosu-Mensah was able to speak to other clubs about a potential move from January 1.
FootballTransfers can confirm Bundesliga side Leverkusen have offered him a contract and are set to sign him, with a small compensation fee of around £1.5 million due to the Premier League side.

Fosu-Mensah’s lack of game time at Man United
After coming through the Ajax youth academy, Fosu-Mensah made the move to England in 2014 and came through the Man United youth teams playing as a right-back, central defender and sometimes even in midfield.
However, despite his talents and ability to play in a number of positions, the young defender was never able to nail down a regular spot in a United side that has routinely signed big-name defenders every season.
When asked about the defender’s future at the club, Solskjaer admitted that it seemed more and more like that Fosu-Mensah would leave the club.
“I’m not sure if Timo is going to stay or [if] he’s going to take an option now,” said the Man Utd boss on Saturday.
“He’s not played enough, so of course he’s been allowed to speak to clubs, with a view to leaving now in January. It’s difficult when you’ve got good players, talented players, and you can’t give them game time.
“He’s now at the stage where he needs to go and play again. It might be [at the] end of January, or it might be in the summer that he finds somewhere else.
“So he’s working hard, he’s ready for a move for any club that he feels ready for.”
