Douglas Costa may be about to have his loan at Bayern Munich cut short, in favour of a move to the Premier League.

The Juventus player has played just 281 minutes of Bundesliga football for the Bavarian giants this season and didn’t even make the bench for Sunday’s 2-1 win over Freiburg.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the player’s parent club have decided to end his fruitless spell in Germany and plan to offer him to clubs in the English Premier League.

Due to the impact of COVID on European football, UEFA will allow loaned players to sign for a third club in one season.

Which would then allow Costa to make another loan move for the remainder of the campaign.

Which Premier League clubs could sign Costa?

Fortunately for Costa, there will likely be no shortage of English clubs in desperate need of a winger with the experience and talents that the Brazilian player undoubtedly possesses.

Perhaps the most obvious destination may be Liverpool. Although Jurgen Klopp can lay claim to an impressive front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, the only back-up right winger at the German’s disposal is Xherdan Shaqiri. And with Diogo Jota still out injured for the time being, some extra help on the wings may be exactly what the Anfield club need.

Another club that may be interested in an additional winger are Arsenal. Mikel Arteta has had to make do with misfiring strikers for much of the season, but the Gunners boss has also had to contend with the inconsistent form of Nicolas Pepe and Willian. In fact, aside from the youthful exuberance of Bukayo Saka there aren’t that many wide players at the London club that offer a huge amount to Arteta.

A third option may be Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton side. While the Merseyside club have done well enough without a proven right winger, the Italian manager’s reliance on Alex Iwobi as a make-shift right winger for much of the season is undoubtedly one of the side’s weak points. In 15 Premier League games the 24-year-old has managed just one goal and two assists. Costa would undoubtedly be a much better option.

It remains to be seen whether Costa does leave Bayern and whether he then ends up in England, but it seems as though many of the Premier League’s biggest clubs would take an interest in the Juventus forward if he was to become available.
