Man Utd target Andre Silva enhances his reputation even in Frankfurt loss
Manchester United would have had their eyes firmly fixed on Andre Silva during Eintracht Frankfurt’s Friday Bundesliga meeting with Werder Bremen – and they would have been impressed with what they saw.
Andre Silva, of course, has been one of Europe’s form players in 2021. The 25-year-old has scored 10 times in his last eight Bundesliga matches and was at it again in Bremen.
Having been Europe’s joint top scorer in the calendar year last weekend with Ilkay Gundogan, he was leapfrogged by Barcelona’s Lionel Messi in midweek. Now, however, Andre Silva has drawn back on terms with the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
With less than 10 minutes on the clock, the striker brilliantly rose to head the opening goal from a Filip Kostic cross. It was a textbook header, with the striker generating both power and accuracy to give his side the edge.
Thereafter, he was Frankfurt’s great menace in a game they dominated.

STATISTIC | ALEXANDER ISAK |

MINUTES | 90 |
GOALS | 1 |
SHOTS/ON TARGET | 6/3 |
TOUCHES IN THE BOX | 10 |
AERIAL DUELS/WON | 3/2 |
Andre Silva had six shots in total, including three that found the target. Indeed, he was not far away from giving a two-goal advantage with a smart piece of play in the box that left him one-on-one with the goalkeeper from a tight angle. On that occasion, he was shut out.
Additionally, the former Porto and Milan forward also had 10 touches in the box. All these figures were match-high figures.
Now up to 19 goals for the season, he is unlikely to get close to Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski in terms of the top scorer charts, but playing with a far more modest outfit, his achievements are arguably equal that of the Pole.
Little wonder, then, that the likes of Man Utd are keeping close tabs on Andre Silva, who is sure to be one of the summer’s hottest transfer properties if he maintains this level.
