Bayer Leverkusen may not be the most popular side in Germany but they routinely produce young talents with all the expertise and consistency expected of a club owned by a pharmaceutical giant. 

Kai Havertz, Bernd Leno and Julian Brandt are just some of the names associated with Leverkusen’s expertise in coaching and developing young players. And in young winger Moussa Diaby they undoubtedly have another potential star on their hands.

Although Diaby is only just beginning his career in football, it’s very clear that the French talent will always prefer to play on either wing when offered the choice.

Although Diaby did play a handful of games in the centre of the pitch and even up front in his early days at PSG, he has established himself as a winger that can perform just as well on the left or right at Leverkusen.

How good is Moussa Diaby?

Since making the move to Germany, Diaby has established himself as a consistent threat in wide areas and taken no time at all to adapt to the physical and quick nature of the Bundesliga. 

In his first season at the club, the winger bagged a perfectly respectable eight goals and eight assists in 39 games for Leverkusen. As expected, Diaby has gone on to improve on that record this time around, with nine goals and 12 assists for the Bundesliga side this season, with a number of games still left to play. 

It’s also worth noting that while the forward was deemed surplus to requirement at PSG, Diaby didn’t leave before winning the prestigious Titi d’Or award, which is only handed out to the most promising and best talents in the Parisian club’s youth academy. 

As such, it goes to show that PSG once regarded Diaby as highly as they rated previous winners of the award, like Kingsley Coman, Odsonne Edouard and Tanguy Nianzou. And he’s certainly living up to the hype now that he’s getting regular game time in Germany.

What clubs are interested in Moussa Diaby?

Like fellow Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, it seems as though the most prominent club that are tracking Diaby’s progress at Leverkusen are Premier League giants Manchester United. 

With the Old Trafford side desperately needing additional firepower on either wing, reports in England and Germany seem to suggest that the young Frenchman could be the ideal prospect to provide cover and eventually push for a starting role in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. 

However, they’re not alone in their admiration for the winger. According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid and fellow Premier League giants Arsenal are also interested in testing Leverkusen’s resolve in the coming summer transfer window.
