‘Super comfortable’ Leon Goretzka ready to sign new contract with Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has stated that he’s “super comfortable” at the Bundesliga club and is leaning towards a new contract extension.
The German international has been in superb form for Hansi Flick’s side this season, with eight goals and nine assists in just 28 games for the Bavarian giants.
Having signed on a free transfer from Schalke in 2018, Goretzka has quickly established himself as one of Bayern’s most consistent performers and as such one of the club’s most important players.

However, with his contract set to expire in 2022, Bayern will be hoping to sign the midfielder up to a new deal for fear of either having to sell him this summer or lose him for free in the following transfer window.
And while Goretzka was unwilling to confirm if his new deal is in the pipeline, the Bayern midfielder did strongly suggest that he would be happy to commit his future to the club.
“I feel super comfortable here,” the midfielder told Sport Bild. “Bayern has helped me a lot in recent years to take the next step. That’s why the tendency is clearly towards Bayern.”
How important has Goretzka been for Bayern this season?
Much of Bayern’s success this season has been down to the club’s individual stars putting in an extra shift to deal with the extra pressure and intensity that has seen most of Europe’s other big clubs crumble in their respective leagues.
On top of that, Bayern also lost a hugely significant player in Thiago Alcantara over the summer transfer window, when the midfielder decided to make the move to Liverpool. And it’s here that Goretzka has been crucial to Flick’s squad.
Alongside Joshua Kimmich in midfield, both players have developed a tremendous partnership that has quickly become the engine in this Bayern machine. Without either of them in the middle of the park, Bayern simply don’t look the same. And as such, it’s vital that Bayern ensure Goretzka signs a new deal with the club.
