Man Utd transfer news: Dortmund begin search for Jadon Sancho replacement
While Borussia Dortmund bat away one request after another for any hint of what they plan to do with Erling Haaland, the club’s stance on Jadon Sancho has certainly softened over the last few months.
Now in his fourth year at the Bundesliga side, Sancho’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window seems to be far less clear cut as Haaland’s and could actually see the player leave Dortmund ahead of the new season.
Perhaps the most notable suggestion that Sancho could be leaving shortly is the fact that the German press are reporting that Dortmund have already begun their search for an ideal replacement for the winger.
According to German newspaper BILD, Dortmund have identified PSV winger Noni Madueke as a potential candidate to step into Sancho’s shoes next season.
The former Tottenham Hotspur youth player has been in superb form in the Dutch top flight this season, scoring nine goals and providing a further eight assists in 30 games in all competitions.
And at just 19 years of age, Madueke undoubtedly ticks most of Dortmund’s boxes in terms of identifying tomorrow’s stars before the rest of Europe.
Could Sancho leave Dortmund for Man Utd this summer?
With a contract at Dortmund until 2023, it would initially seem as though the club are in a good position to once again spend the summer fighting off bids for Sancho’s signature.
However, reports in Germany and comments from members of the club have suggested that the winger would be allowed to leave if potential suitors like Manchester United offered the right price.

“We already had a gentlemen’s agreement with Jadon last year that he can switch under certain conditions,” Dortmund sporting director, Michael Zorc, said to broadcaster ARD.
“He has been with us for a couple of years. However, this agreement does not exist with Erling.”
Man Utd were unable to meet Dortmund’s asking price for Sancho last season as a huge transfer saga frustrated supporters.
Zorc added: “In the end, the requirements were not met.”
