Bayern boss doesn't rule out move for Liverpool and Spurs transfer target
Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has refused to rule out a bid for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Marcel Sabitzer before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Munich side have had a quiet window thus far, having only made one transfer in the form of Dayot Upamecano, alongside picking up Omar Richards on a free signing.
However, like their Premier League rivals, Bayern could certainly use more talent in the middle of the pitch and as such Sabitzer has been identified as a potential target for this coming season.
Due to the fact that the RB Leipzig captain only has one year left on his deal in Saxony, Sabitzer could be signed for as little as €20 million.
And while Salihamidzic wouldn’t openly admit to courting the midfield star, he also didn’t deny any intentions of doing some business before the end of the window.
"I understand that there is speculation about names in the media. I will not comment on that, especially since the player is under contract with RB Leipzig,” said the former Bayern star before their German Super Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
“But we monitor the market, Bayern is always good for something. And we'll see if anything else happens."
Could Sabitzer leave Leipzig?
Speculation has surrounded Sabitzer for some time due to the fact that the player has so far refused to sign a contract extension with the club.
As well as that, Leipzig have also brought in a number of attacking midfielders in that time that could, in theory, step into Sabitzer’s role if he is sold this summer.
However, while the Bundesliga side may be anticipating the midfielder’s departure, it seems as though Liverpool, Bayern and Tottenham have yet to make an offer for the player and for now he looks set to stay at the club.
