Five clubs that could sign Niklas Sule on a free transfer in summer
Niklas Sule’s agent Volker Struth has confirmed that the centre-back is preparing to leave Bayern Munich in the summer, when his contract expires. After joining the Bavarian side from Hoffenheim in 2017, Sule will depart after five seasons and apparently already knows where he wants to go next.

Several clubs have been linked with Sule over the years and in the past few weeks, so here we take a look at the five teams that are best-positioned to bring in this highly coveted defender at the end of the current season.
Niklas Sule to Chelsea?
Sule is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League and Chelsea are by far the leading candidates to sign him this summer. There are two main reasons for that, one of them being that they have a need at the centre-back position and the other being that they have long admired the defender and first tried to sign him as far back as 2016. Now, they might finally get their man.
Niklas Sule to Tottenham?
When Sule was linked with Chelsea in the past, it was when Antonio Conte was in charge of the Blues. Now, the German could finally have the chance to work with the Italian coach, while he has reportedly said in the past that he’d view a more to Spurs favourably.
Niklas Sule to Newcastle?
Newcastle are going to be linked with even more players this summer than they already were in the January transfer window, assuming they manage to avoid relegation. After their pursuit of Diego Carlos failed in winter, with Newcastle settling for Dan Burn instead, Sule could come in the summer months to strengthen the Magpies’ central defence.
Niklas Sule to Manchester United?
Another Premier League side with a great chance of landing the German is Manchester United. With Ralf Rangnick heading up their sporting project, fans of the Red Devils should expect several Bundesliga transfer targets in the coming windows and Sule is a player the 63-year-old knows well, even if they hardly coincided at Hoffenheim, as the centre-back was a youth player when Rangnick was there.
Niklas Sule to Barcelona?
While Sule’s preference is believed to be a move to England, if he were to look at options in Europe then he could find a home at Barcelona. The Catalan club are struggling financially, but they are still signing players when they find the right free agent or loan opportunities and they are still paying big salaries. To bring Sule in on a free transfer and then pay him decent wages would fit with Barça’s current policy.
