How much would a Lewandowski transfer cost Barca or Man Utd this summer?
Barcelona are set to rival Manchester United for the signing of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer.
According to Diario Sport, the Catalan giants have put together a shortlist of strikers that they hope to sign before the start of next season and the Poland international is top of their list.
Lewandowski has been in remarkable form for Bayern this season, with no less than 42 goals in 35 games for Julian Nageslmann’s side.
As such, the senior striker continues to attract interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs and could potentially end up leaving in a few months time.
Could Lewandowski leave Bayern this summer?
As things currently stand, the Polish star has a contract with Bayern that is set to run until 2023. However, while Bayern have hinted at a contract extension in the coming months, neither they nor the player’s representatives have been forthcoming with negotiations.
At the moment, there’s no hint of a new deal in the works and Lewandowski seems to be growing wary of the lack of movement in that regard. Should the striker turn down any offers from Bayern, he may opt to simply leave at the end of his current deal.
If so, that could force Bayern into selling the player this summer, rather than risk losing him for free 12 months later. Which is where Man Utd or Barca may come in.
How much would he cost?
Despite having just over one year left on his contract and being 33 years of age, Lewandowski is still worth no less than €51 million in today’s market.
Much of that will undoubtedly be down to the player’s form over the past two of three seasons but also the fact that he seems to be only getting better with age and is showing no signs of slowing down, despite now being beyond what many would consider to be the peak years for a striker.
