RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo has shrugged off rumours linking him with a departure from the club this summer.

The Spain international has undoubtedly made a name for himself since making the move to the Bundesliga club in 2020 for around €22 million.

In that time Olmo has bagged no less than 15 goals and 18 assists in 78 appearances for RB Leipzig.

As such, the young star has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, who he played for as a young player before moving to Croatia.

However, despite constant reports from Spain to the contrary, Olmo was quick to dismiss any notion of him pushing for a move in the summer transfer window.

'I see no reason to leave this summer'

“I am not in a hurry! I'm very happy here and I still have a contract until 2024. I see no reason to leave this summer and change clubs,” said Olmo in an interview with German newspaper Sport-Bild.

“I've just realised how quickly it can happen. I've had six tough months and I'm happy to be playing again now. I'm only concentrating on the games and not on anything else.”

Indeed, after an impressive summer with the Spain national team at Euro 2020, Olmo was struck down by a torn muscle fibre injury that ruled him out for nine league games this season.

As a result, Olmo has had to fight hard to regain his spot in RB Leipzig’s star-studded side and is seemingly more interested in getting back to where he was rather than move on to another club.

When asked about Barca’s interest in signing him, Olmo also confirmed that he had had no contact with Xavi, despite admiring the manager as a former player.

“Xavi is a legend. What he did for Barcelona and the Spanish national team was incredible,” said Olmo.

“Now he's starting out as a coach. I'm very happy for him, he's from my town, from Terrassa.”
