Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed that the club are interested in making a move for Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch this summer.

The Dutch youngster has long been tipped to leave the Johan Cruyff Arena this summer, as the club have failed to extend his contract, which runs out next year.

There has been plenty of interest in his signature, but in recent times, it appeared as though Bayern were the frontrunners and have been in discussions with Ajax over a transfer fee.

It was believed that Bayern made a €25 million offer for the player, but Ajax want more for one of the brightest talents to come out of their academy in recent times.

Now, however, the German club have admitted an interest in the player, and Salihamidzic has said negotiations have begun.

What have Bayern said about the move?

"He is a good player. We are in talks. With a transfer like this, a lot of things have to fit," Salihamidzic told Sky90.

"It is difficult. All transfers are difficult."

Bayern are believed to have offered Gravenberch a five-year contract, and have an agreement with the player over a transfer to the Allianz Arena.

Gravenberch has been a key member of Erik ten Hag’s side since breaking through the Ajax first-team in September 2018, having joined the club as a youngster in 2010.

He impressed in seasons after that and even though this campaign has been slightly more difficult, and Gravenberch’s form has been inconsistent, there is still plenty of talent in him.

The midfielder has scored some important goals this season, including one in the Dutch Cup final against PSV last week, although Ajax ended up losing that match 2-1.

Earlier this season, he became the second-youngest player – after Matthijs de Ligt – to reach 100 appearances for Ajax in this century, at the age of 19.
