Bayern reject Barcelona’s €32m Lewandowski bid
Bayern Munich have decided to reject Barcelona’s €32 million bid for Robert Lewandowski, according to Bild.
The German champions have decided that they intend to keep the Poland star next season unless they are able to find a replacement who is up to the level of Lewandowski.
Bayern are in talks to sign Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane, who will leave the Premier League side this summer.
However, it is understood that Mane’s probable arrival is unconnected to Lewandowski.
Bayern will need to sign an adequate number nine to even consider letting Lewandowski leave.
WHO ARE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD?
Sasa Kalajdzic of Stuttgart is the favoured option.
Lewandowski’s future at Bayern has been in doubt for some time as his contract at the club expires in 2023, and there has been no progress in an extension being agreed.
A fortnight ago, Lewandowski told Bayern chiefs that he wants to leave the club this summer and he will not pen a new deal.
This was then confirmed publicly by Lewandowski, as well as by Bayern officials.
However, Bayern have also publicly stressed that they have no intention of selling Lewandowski this summer and that they want the Poland star to see out the final year of his contract.
Barcelona, who have made Lewandowski their top target for the summer, have since lodged an official €32m bid for the 33-year-old but Bayern are set to reject the offer.
Lewandowski admitted on Sunday that he does not see his future at Bayern.
What did Lewandowski say?
"It depends on several factors,” Lewandowski told ElevenSportsPL.
“I think my situation is clear and it makes no sense to talk about it.
“It's difficult to say that I will play for Bayern next season.”
