Borussia Dortmund face a race against time to keep prodigious striker Youssoufa Moukoko at the club with Premier League big guns queueing up to sign him on a free transfer this summer…

Dortmund are normally so good at cashing in on their young players. Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland were sold to Manchesters United and City for €85 million and €60m respectively in consecutive summers, and they are expected to get at least €100m for Jude Bellingham at the end of this season.

But Moukoko - an 18-year-old striker who is already a full Germany international - is out of contract at the end of the season and BVB face the very real prospect of seeing him leave on a free.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are among the Premier League clubs credited with an interest in the youngster, while cash-strapped Barcelona could also make a move with Moukoko admitting at the World Cup that he followed them growing up.

Generous offer

Dortmund are trying to stave off such interest with a generous contract offer, however.

"With a four-year contract (with the option of another year), BVB will offer Moukoko €6 million a seasons plus a signing bonus of €10m," report SportBild.

"His agent [Patrick] Williams will also receive the customary 10 per cent commission based on Moukoko's salary, which in the best case will add up to €2.4m. Overall, sporting director Sebastian Kehl and club boss Hans-Joachim Watzke have put together a package worth more than €40m!"

Moukoko's projected €6m a season would see him leapfrog Jude Bellingham to become the seventh-best paid player at the club, but the Premier League clubs could comfortably offer double that amount.

Dortmund are currently negotiating with Moukoko and his entourage at the Hotel Don Pepe Gran Melia in Marbella, where they have been training in the winter break.

It is understood that if Moukoko doesn't accept the terms on offer, the club will try to sell him in the January transfer window.
