But the 38-year-old craves a final crack at the Champions League and could be presented with it by Bayern Munich.

FCB were linked with Ronaldo last summer when it was evident that he was on his way out of Manchester United. One of the major stumbling blocks that the Bundesliga side claimed to have, though, was finances.

Bayern's path for Ronaldo cleared

They have been given a route around this problem, though, by entrepreneur Markus Schon, who Abendzeitung reports has contacted Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn to finance a deal.

“It would be conceivable that we could undertake to pay a transfer fee or loan fee in excess of a basic amount to be defined if our company is clearly seen as 'facilitating' the difference,” Schon wrote.

“In the event of a permanent commitment, we would expect a share in the proceeds from the jersey in order to limit our financial risk.”

Schon has added that it would be “absolutely necessary” for Ronaldo to take a significant pay cut from the €200m annual salary he earns at Al Nassr if he is to move to Bayern Munich.

The businessman is a huge fan of Ronaldo’s, with the Portuguese having smashed records at every club he has played with.

Nevertheless, in the latter stages of his career, there remain doubts over the veteran’s effectiveness at the top level, particularly as he is enduring a relatively dry spell with Al-Nassr, scoring only two goals from open play since February.
