Gio Reyna pushing for Borussia Dortmund transfer
USMNT star Gio Reyna reportedly wants to leave Borussia Dortmund in pursuit of more first-team opportunities.
Reyna burst onto the scene with Dortmund four seasons ago, becoming a first-team regular a year later and enjoying four goals and seven assists in his first full Bundesliga campaign.
An American youth prodigy, and attacking midfielder to boot, comparisons with Christian Pulisic, who left BVB for Chelsea for €64 million in 2019, were irresistible.
But a hairline fracture on his fibula sustained against Canada whilst on CONCACAF Nations League duty with the US in June has disrupted his progress this season, and he has only started one of his six appearances since returning to full fitness.
He has now made an off-field change in an attempt to change things on it.
"Gio Reyna has also left his consultancy agency," tweeted dedicated Dortmund account BVB Newsblog. "He simply wants to play more, so a loan could be possible in the winter."
The account also say that winger Donyell Malen is 'frustrated', and that the club are having doubts about striker Sebastien Haller, but big money could be achieved for them, with Manchester United reportedly interested in a permanent move for the former in particular.

Where would Reyna fit best?
While Reyna might only pursue a loan at this point - and Bundesliga suitors such as Eintracht Frankfurt and Union Berlin would surely explore the possibility - now could be a good time for a club like Newcastle to pounce.
They have an overall 'club fit' of 76 - a measure made by FootballTransfers' official data partner SciSports, based on a number of factors such as playing style, formation and potential development.
West Ham and Roma come top of the pile with a score of 78, but the algorithm predicts Reyna would more likely fulfil his potential at St James' Park.
Reyna is valued at €26.2 million by FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm.
