Dortmund beat European rivals to WONDERKID contract

Borussia Dortmund have signed a new contract with a German wonderkid, warding off interest from around Europe.
18 year-old Almugera Kabar signed a new contract with Borussia Dortmund on February 20, 2025, extending his stay with the Bundesliga club until June 2028.
The three year extension gives Dortmund control over the teenage wing-back during his key formative years, which is what they want as he looks to break into the first-team.
To date Kabar has played four games for the Dortmund first-team, coming off the bench three times before earning his first start (and playing 78 minutes) against Bayer Leverkusen back in January.

Kabar's debut actually ended in ignominy as he was sent off for a second yellow card in a 2:1 defeat away to Ausburg. And even his next appearance Dortmund lost as well.
But he finally picked up a win against Freiburg, playing 8 minutes in a 4-0 win, before losing 3-2 in his first start against Leverkusen.
Despite a rocky time in terms of results, Kabar has certainly shown his quality and with a contract expiring, Dortmund made quick of his contract renewal in order to ward off the interest of other European clubs, many of whom were starting to circle.

Barcelona and Milan wanted Kabar
Kabar, who helped Germany win the U-17 World Cup and U-17 European Championship in 2023, had attracted interest from some truly elite teams.
AC Milan were one of the clubs interested in sign Kabar, as they wanted the German to be the initial understudy to Theo Hernandez before eventually replacing the Frenchman.
Meanwhile, Barcelona had previously been linked with Kabar with an eye to incorporating him into their B-team at first before preparing him to compete with Alejandro Balde.
These kind of elite names have now got to reformulate their plans, as Dortmund have now secured the teenager for another three years.
