Zidane: I won’t ask for new Real Madrid contract

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane says there are no talks planned over a new contract and that he will not be initiating discussions.

Zidane returned to the Santiago Bernabeu last year for a second spell as coach and immediately led Madrid to the Primera Division in his first full season back.

And despite a rocky start to the current campaign, Madrid have embarked on an excellent recent run of form which has seen them re-enter La Liga’s title race and win their Champions League group.

This has led to calls that Zidane should be handed an extension to his deal which runs out at the end of next season.

“I have nothing in mind, I have a contract until 2022 and I will not ask for anything,” Zidane told reporters.

“Every moment here is great and I am fortunate to say I am in the best club in the world.

“I hope that the players will stay and we build more success.”

Zidane won an unprecedented three Champions League titles in a row during his first spell as manager of Madrid.

This Sunday evening, the Blancos take on Eibar.
